Good morning everyone, I’m Felipe Avalos, I would to like to quickly address and remind everyone how any police officer on duty, risk their own life to put any civilian as their priority before theirs. I am here to discuss why we should not have our police officers with a body camera while on duty.
Believing that a camera can change the outlook for a situation can go both way from any viewer. I say this because the expense and amount of tax money for having another camera can cost a lot. Money creates a problem for investing in cameras since it is specially made for capturing raids and serious situations. A chance that an officer will be wearing on his shift patrolling around the city is very low since a camera is already on the dashboard of a police car.

Moving on, the limitation of an officer who is required to have a camera at all time can be a hassle on their duty. A situation that occurs so fast for a police officer to respond, they will not be ready since he/she must wear the camera which can take a time to set up. Not only can it take up time to set up but the footage could be damage, corrupted, or tampered. This limits possibilist for any evidence to be available for any case.
My last statement is privacy. By possible chance that camera became easier to put on an officer was a simple attachment, then there should not be a problem, right? That is where we are wrong since a police officer must wear it until they are done with their shift, they have no privacy during lunch breaks or answering a personal call from a love one. Of course, there are cameras that can be turned off but it can be a permanent be attached to an officer's clothing or mandatory accessory they must wear at all time since technology is becoming stronger and smaller.
Let us rethink our choice for every police officer since they are doing their best to protect us and earn a living through our taxes. We should not further strip them away of their freedom of being a police officer just because some bad apples made a bad image for the rest.
